WHY BAND?

Playing a musical instrument has been shown in many studies to exercise more of the brain than any other activity.

Teaches cooperation, problem solving, coordination, persistence, discipline, creativity, self-expression and so much more.

Music touches the heart and soul, giving expression to feelings that cannot be described with mere words.

Students who learn to play an instrument learn discipline and how to cooperate with others and earn higher grades in all subjects.

Researchers in child development have identified music as one of the seven intelligences, just as important as linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligences.
Family-Owned Instruments:

If you are considering using a family-owned instrument, please write that on the registration form. It is extremely important that your child’s instrument be in good playing condition. Instruments that are old or have been neglected for some time often need the attention of a skilled repair person before they are playable.

Caution! Some new or used instruments found on the internet may be of inferior quality. Check with me or ask the recommended music stores (Groth, or Schmitt) before purchasing any instrument. Some may need frequent repair and may not be worth your investment in the long run.
